Nearly 100 years after its first ascent, Dedo de Deus (Finger of God) remains a great adventure and challenge. It is classic in every possible way: a beautiful formation, a compelling line, an intriguing first ascent history, and an awesome summit.
The adventure starts leaving Rio at 6 o'clock in the morning to go to Serra dos Órgãos National Park in Teresópolis.
The first part of this adventure is a long and steep forest trail, about one hour long. After that, we must climb some ferrata (cable) for more than 150 meters and hike a bit more! After two and a half hours we arrive at the base of the route. It is important to be in good shape!
The route has some beautiful liebacks and chimneys and is rated 5.9 (5+). It has 200 meters and the most impressive pitch is the Maria Cebola Dihedral, from which you can see the cars on the road hundreds of meters below your feet! After so many difficulties you deserve to be 1675 meters above sea level, at the summit of this amazing mountain!
However, that's not the end, we still have to rappel. We descend the 1912 route, with some overhanging rappels! We also rappel down the cables to access the trail back to the car. It'll be a long but wonderful day.
The climbing season in Teresópolis goes from May to September (winter in South America). We provide all the necessary gear, but if you prefer just bring your climbing shoes and harness.
With Companhia da Escalada you'll have a private guide, so you can climb whenever you want.
